winter face lotion

new face lotion!

i’m running low on face lotion, so i whipped this up. the basics are fairly similar to my regular body lotion recipe, but i’ve used some specific essential oils that help to balance my crazy skin. it’s also less greasy than a normal body lotion. so far i am really happy with it.

i think when it gets warm in the spring i may need to make a different recipe. i find my skin is substantially more dry and itchy in the winter, but for now this is working very well.

ingredients:

1 T oil
1/8 c shea butter
2 capsules vitamin e
2 T aloe
1/8 c witch hazel
2 T water
1 T emulsifier
essential oils (drops):
4 tea tree
1 peppermint
2 bitter orange
2 lemongrass
1 ylang ylang

to make:

melt shea butter, oil and vitamin e together.
in a separate bowl, mix emulsifier and oils.

once shea butter is melted, add oils, stir.

then add aloe, witch hazel and water, and blend.
pour into a jar or small pump bottle, and allow to cool. you only need a tiny bit (1/4 t) so it lasts a long time, even though the recipe makes a small bottle.
