these spiced nuts are a nice holiday treat. i am really happy with
the blend of spices i used, but it could certainly be altered to suit
your own tastes. i found it really hard to stop eating these once i had
started!
ingredients:
1 egg
1/4 c brown sugar
1 t salt
1/2 t chili powder
1/2 t ground cumin
1 t cayenne pepper
dash cloves
1/4 t nutmeg
2 1/2 c nuts (i used pecan halves, walnut halves, cashews and almonds)
1 egg
1/4 c brown sugar
1 t salt
1/2 t chili powder
1/2 t ground cumin
1 t cayenne pepper
dash cloves
1/4 t nutmeg
2 1/2 c nuts (i used pecan halves, walnut halves, cashews and almonds)
to make:
beat egg.
add sugar and spices and mix well.
add nuts, and stir to coat evenly.
spread on an ungreased cookie sheet. if there is extra egg/spice goo at the bottom of the bowl, discard.
bake at 300 for 15 minutes, then pull the pan out. use a spatula to toss the nuts.
bake for another 15 minutes. allow the nuts to cool on the tray, they will crisp up as they cool.
enjoy!
