greasy body lotion

in the winter, my skin gets really dry. i have my cocoa butter body lotion which is good most of the time, but sometimes i need something super greasy.

in the past i have used baby oil (ick), olive oil, etc, but i find that the moisture only lasts a day or so. this lotion is much nicer - it combines oil with shea and cocoa butters and beeswax. once i put it on, i don't get dry itchy skin even if it's a week until i have a shower (don't judge me).

ingredients:

1/4 c oil (i used 1/8 c almond, 1/8 c olive)
3 T cocoa butter
1 T and 2 t beeswax
1 T shea butter
1 T water
2 t aloe
3-5 drops essential oil (optional)

to make:

combine oil, cocoa butter, beeswax and shea butter.
melt. i use a wax-melter with a big bowl - it takes 45 minutes or so to melt everything. you could also use a double boiler or the microwave, just be careful not to burn/boil it.
once the oils are all melted and combined, allow to cool for an hour or so. it won't be solid.
then, add water and aloe, and blend.
i let it cool in the bowl, and blend occasionally as it does. this helps to keep everything well mixed, and once it's cooled it'll stay mixed. pour or spoon into jars. it will be fairly solid when cooled, but melts nicely in your hands. you could also pour it into a deodorant-style dispenser and use that to rub the lotion on without getting oil on your hands!
this makes 2 small jars (about 4 oz)

  1. hey! is this the lotion I got for xmas? if so, I am a fan. I've been using it so much it is almost gone already. and it smells delicious! Coconut oil is very moisturizing if you wanna mix it up, but takes a while to soak in.
